Grilled chicken with chips & side sauces and salad

Aims for this shoot was to capture a range of shoot of the grilled chicken I feel it was a successful, in order to capture this shoot I had to make sure the right lighting was used as it got difficult because some of my images began to bleach out when I changed the aperture in order to get the chicken to standout. alternatively I then got some white card and used my LED lighting to make the chicken stand out as it was grilled it was very important that it stands out and that the audience can see it a grilled chicken because sometime by using the wrong lighting setting you can completely change the look of the food which doesn’t work out well.

Doing these shoots I feel lighting compassions is a very important thing out of everything if these are correct you cannot go wrong but if these settings are wrong  then your images could not come out as wanted.

Overall it was a great task I have completed with a variety of images that I am pleased with. My next aim will be to continue shooting and making sure the following structures and settings are used to get the correct images that are appealing to the audience, working with a range of professional and getting knowledge from them has really befitted me and has gave me great confidence.

Orange and strawberry smoothie

Aims for this shoot what’s to capture drinks this was one of the drinks which I had captured due to not having a white background set I did have much option other than creating a large amount of depth of field and capturing the drinks image on the table as it shows you how the drink would look and also makes it look nature and realistic.

I did a range off shoots so it gives me a better idea of which image is stronger and which would stand out better. Reviewing all of the images I feel they all have come out as expected. As it was a glass it was very difficult to keep light out using white cards did help but having a sun roof window brought extra lighting in which kept the shade on the glass but looking at my images I feel they have that natural look and make the image look appealing and eye catching which is what I was creating.

Overall this was a great shoot I have produced a range of shoots which I am very pleased with and I feel they stand out very well and work well to what I was trying to create. It has given me confidence with how to capture drinks make them look naturel as possible and standout.

Aims for this shoot was to get a range of shoots and making sure all the texture and details within the coffee and around it are captured as seen. I did a range of angle to how the coffee would be seen if it was placed in front of a person as it would give them an idea of how it would taste or look like as looking at it.

By capturing a range of shots I did a lot of pin pointing as this is very important to produce the shoot you are wanting making sure all details and items are been captured within the image as se making sure not but of items has been miss placed or put in a place where they can’t be seen. Within food photography structure to details is largely important making sure everything is set out in the right way and is seen.

Coffee most people enjoy a cup of coffee after a hard day at work and a bit of time off with a family or friend, here is a cup of coffee with milk placed next to it.

Overall I am very happy with the final results of the shoot I have managed to add every detail which was asked and captured a range of compositions so the graphic designer will have a better idea of what images they would think would look best on the website page.

Specialist Studio Practice 3 (Proposal test shoot 3)

Aims for this shoot was to capture comfort food this was a request by a friend who likes fish fingers with everything set nicely ready to be eaten. I prepared the meal and set it out in presentable way so it looks appealing. I feel I have mange to create in in a way were it would look eye catching and standout. I thought very carefully about where to put the food before capturing it as this makes big impact to the image I could have just put the good on top of each other, but instead I though and used the skills that I have learnt from food stylist which helped very much.

Overall I am happy with the result of the images I feel they show what I wanted to put and the food itself speaks for itself and stands out. I used a range of angle by using a range of viewpoints it gives me a selections of images to pick out from once taken looking back at my finals I feel I was successful and feel I have a variety of images. Canon Lens: 24 – 70

Canon Lens: 70 -300

Aims for this shoot was to do a range of shoot within the studio using the flash. I was wanting to lay out the chocolate buns in a range of way to get the right shoot as it is all about pin pointing within food photography I feel as though I have managed to successfully produce some shoots that I was happy with.

As this was a comfort food of a friend, I took the opportunity to buy the food and shoot it in a studio. I placed a matt on the surface and created arrange of shoots I then placed the food on a plate and did arrange of shoots on there to see which I feel look stronger I feel as though all the image have come out great and are very strong.

I wanted to create a shallow depth of field within some of the images which I feel I produced, I then mixed all the buns up and tried using a longer lens which meant standing fare out with the tripod to create the image I was wanting to achieve.

Using the soft box was a great advantage as it spread the lighting around the food which gave a great structure on my final images, I feel as though I could continue shooting a range of food but using the same techniques.

Overall I am very satisfied with the images that I have produced the lighting on them was just as I was wanting to achieve alongside using the white card in front was great as it bounced the lighting back in on the food which showed great details on the food. My next aim is to go through my project images and start putting them together as I am happy with the range of images that I have produced, I then will be selecting the strongest with great exposure and lighting.

From my previous shoot I wanted to create something similar but in a different way to produce the image as I wasn’t wanting it to look very similar. I shoot my images on stone with the raw meat once I produced these images I than did a range of shoots after the food had been cooked.

I placed some bread and cheese on a palate with Kebabs as this was a family member’s comfort food they enjoy to eat. I feel the images have come out strong and using natural lighting has really benefitted my images and gave great details.

Overall the shoot was a great success as I got to produce two separate shoots to show a way of how food could look before it’s been cooked and after. After having a group discussion with my class – mates I feel as though some of the ideas they gave I should try as this could gave me further ideas within how I could develop on my images and gain further knowledge.

Overall I am very pleased with my shoot and I feel I have developed a range of skills that have helped me and I could use further within my shoots. My next aim is to continue shooting using natural and studio lighting.

Shoot 6

Contact sheets – Outcome: 3

Aims for this shoot was to produce a shoot on location and try to show an environment where people would eat their comfort food. Within this shoot I went a bit further and produced some behind the scene images as this would have shown a the food uncooked and then been cooked. I started of shooting the food as it was frozen I then rearranged the food on to a round place and spread the food around to make it look eye catching and then did a range of shoots whilst it was cooked.

I feel as though the shoot was a great success and I feel I have produced some satisficing shoots. Lighting for this shoot my aim was to produce using natural lighting and capturing images of the food which would show further details of it and it’s a technique that you must develop on as within food photography it’s a great advantage to use natural lighting.

I feel I have achieve some results that would fit great as my final. But I would be doing further more shoots of food using natural lighting as I feel I could develop from this and take it further.

Overall all I am satisfied with my images, my next aim is to produce some further images using natural lighting. Within this I will be doing location shoots using natural lighting as I am happy with the images produced.

Outcome 3

Shoot 5

Within this shoot my aim was to develop from my pervious shoot and make it different. I used a range of lighting and a soft box as I was wanting the lighting within the images to not be too strong.

I set the food out in a range of ways but couldn’t construct what layout I was aiming to achieve so I carried on with pin pointing and developing from that, I had finally come up with a structure that was beginning to work. But the great thing as this shoot was that I pin pointed as this is a very important task within food to make sure the results come out great.

The lighting was great as I feel I had no issue with it and I have managed to produce shoot that I am happy with. This comfort food was chosen by a friend as they liked and I offered to shoot the food that they enjoy eating as this may not be every cup of tea but every individual has their own taste in food.

Overall this was a great shoot I feel I have achieved the results I was aiming to achieve. The layout and the set of the images is just as it was coming up to Christmas I was wanting to create a Christmas theme which I feel I have gained.

My next task is to continue shoot and develop on my comfort food and get more people involved and see what kind of food they like.
